ABOUT ME

Hello.

I am Maddy and I started this blog as a place to share my love for photographing works in progress – #WIP.

As a child growing up, I would watch my family cook together in the kitchen and be lulled into the gentle lullaby of the noise, colours and smells that came from the process. The meals were always spectacular but I wouldn’t be able to tell you much about the actual dishes. However, I can describe to you in infinitesimal  detail which chipped crockery was used to hold the bouillabaisse and what spices were thrown into the mortar & pestle.

As the years passed, I continually found myself drawn to the scenes behind the works of art, more so than the actual finished pieces itself. I found the forearms that have been evenly coated with a layer of sweet-smelling saw dust so delicate and poignant. The dirty ink-stained hands told of long hours layering the ground work of nothing into something. The scattered fabric off cuts with their threads hanging off in anticipation whispered of separation.

Drawn by these scenes before me, here is my celebration of the real stories of passion and hopes that lie in the works in progress as captured through my iPhone.
